Kd Table/Chair
The initial idea for this project came to me when recycling sheets of cardboard. I realized I could make a chair from the cardboard by making two small incisions on each piece, with an extra piece resting on top. After making the prototype, I found that it took up less space if I stored it on its side, which made me realize it could function as not only a chair, but a table too. The final piece is a multifunctional knockdown chair and table made from sheets of birch using only hand tools.
This piece is naturally low-waste as it only requires six 1/4” by 8” pieces of wood to be removed to create the joints, it is fully collapsible to reduce shipping/packaging costs, and functions as both a chair and a table, allowing consumers to purchase one item instead of two.
