Schmidt
Daisy Schmidt is a 20-year-old mixed-media artist and designer based in Brooklyn, New York. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, she is currently working towards receiving her BFA in Product Design at Parsons School of Design, where she also works as a Communications Assistant for the Dean’s Office
and as the current Head of Communications for the Parsons chapter of the Industrial Designers Society of America. Her work has also been featured in multiple galleries and exhibitions. She emphasizes sustainability and materiality in all of her work. She achieves this by focusing on making recyclable, multifunctional, collapsible, single-material products and functional art. Aesthetically, she creates works that follow a general theme of intentional imperfection. Her pieces are visibly handmade, often favoring hand tools, natural finishing, and non-mechanical joining processes over more mechanized practices.
Daisy dreams of mastering every medium she can while building a community of artists and designers who want to use their work to create a more functional, safe, and sustainable world.
